Venezuela - Salesians promote lives of families, youth, adolescents and children in "San Isidro Labrador" neighborhood of Petare
Petare, Venezuela - May 2022 - On May 14 and 15, patronal celebrations were held in the "San Isidro Labrador" neighborhood of the city of Petare, where Salesian youth have been carrying out apostolic work in this area for more than 40 years as part of their formation as educators and pastors, accompanying and promoting the lives of families, youth, adolescents and children. In this way, despite the difficulties, they carry out projects of hope. At the operational level, on the morning of Saturday 14, medical health care activities were carried out in the "Padre Alejandro Moreno Salesian Youth Center," aimed especially at families who do not have easy access to integral medical attention. A celebration for children, adolescents, and youth was held in the afternoon, during which cultural presentations, dances, and games were performed, and the figure of St. Isidore the Worker was popularized, 400 years after his canonization. On Sunday, the fruits of the earth and those who cultivate them were blessed, and a Eucharist was celebrated in which the patron saint of the neighborhood was also thanked for protecting the local Salesian mission in all its service to the local people. The day ended with the sharing of a community meal.
