India – Bosco Seva Kendra releases BOLD Report: Strategic Planning for 2022-2028

03 May 2022

(ANS – Hyderabad) – On the Pearl Anniversary (30th) of the Salesian Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad, Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), the Planning and Development Office of the Province, released the BOLD (Better Opportunities for Learning and Development) report which is a study and evaluation of all the communities from August 2021 to January 2022 and its strategic planning for the six-year period (2022-2028). It was released on 24 April 2022 by Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, sdb, and Fr Medabalimi Balaswamy, sdb, in the presence of Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar, sdb, the executive director of BSK. Through BOLD, BSK evaluated five categories: 1. Schools & Colleges, 2. Technical Schools, 3. Parishes, 4. Youth Services, and 5. Young at Risk.

As a pilot programme, BSK began this study and evaluation process in similarity with a project done in 2002. The process took a longer period due to Covid-19. The Provincial Council, after seeing the processes and methods used in BOLD, have decided that a similar process be done for all our communities except formation houses since they have already done so two years ago.

BOLD will become a handbook for the province leadership and for all communities since it is done in the participatory method. BSK has involved Salesians, Salesian family members, teachers and instructors, students, youth members, past pupils, and staff involved in various projects. The BOLD report presents the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT). Based on SWOT the communities have come out with a six-year plan with prioritization of needs and developmental activities to be taken up in the coming six years.

Mr. Louis Manohar, an expert in institutional analysis, has been guiding and mentoring in this process. He has prepared all questionnaires and directly visited the YaR main centres and PARA of the province and organized the BOLD process.

The Provincial Council has formed three teams: 1. Fr Aruldas, Fr M. Sleeva and Mr Chandrasekar, 2. Fr Sarath, Fr Upendar, Mrs Rosalind 3. Fr Sudhakar, Fr Mattukoyya Mariadas, and Mr Joel to complete this process for other communities.

Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar, sdb, thanked the past and present leadership of the province, namely Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, sdb, and Fr Thomas Santiagu, sdb, for their support and for being part of this study and evaluation process.
