From the airport he then proceeded to the Salesian Community at Don Bosco Hwange, where he was officially welcomed and greeted by the young people of Hwange and Harare, and Rundu- Namibia. The people from Rundu - Namibia welcomed the Rector Major with their traditional welcome ceremony, escorted by young people with their traditional dances and the Rundu community people dressed him and welcomed him as a king.
Later in the evening he joined the Salesians for the evening prayer and gave the traditional good night, which was followed by the cultural programme offered by the young people. Speaking about this visit of the Rector Major, Fr. Christopher Rychcik, the provincial stated: “It is a moment of grace and strength for the vice province of Zambia-Zimbabwe-Malawi-Namibia (ZMB), as it also marks 40 years of our Salesian Presence in Zambia, and it is sure to show seed of hope, encouragement and assurance in the minds and hearts of the people, specially among the Salesians and the young people.
The Rector Major is expected to continue his visit the coming days in Zimbabwe and move to Zambia where the grand jubilee celebrations are awaited with great enthusiasm and waiting.
