The Eucharistic celebration began at 5:30 p.m. local time, presided over by Fr Á.F. Artime, and concelebrated by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Regional Councilor for Africa-Madagascar, and all the Region’s Provincials, who had come together given the opening of the Spiritual Exercises that the Rector Major himself will preach for the Provincial Councils of the entire Region.
During his homily, the Tenth Successor of Don Bosco spoke to the assembly about the Salesian charism, its genesis, and its foundations, and then extended an invitation to the newly perpetually professed to remain faithful to it always, through their testimony of life.
At the end of the celebration, animated by the Choir of the Mary Help of Christians Parish of Mimboman, in Yaoundé, the new perpetually professed confreres - Arnaud Akakpo; Joseph Chu Nhat Tan; Frederic Djegle; Casimir Dovi-Gaba; Peter Lai Vu Son Lam; Abraham Sossou and Daniel Tagne - expressed their feelings of gratitude to all those who have accompanied them during these years and who have been involved in any way in their formation, beginning with the Rector of the Theologate "Saint Augustine" of Nkol'afeme, Fr Rigobert Fumtchum, and continuing with the entire Salesian community of the Vice-Province of Equatorial Tropical Africa; and they also prayed all of them and others involved to continue to support them with solicitude and prayer in the continuation of their Salesian life.
After Mass, Fr Roland Mintsa, ATE Provincial, thanked the Rector Major, the Regional Councilor, and the other Provincials present, and the evening then continued with a time of celebration for the seven new Salesians forever.
