RMG – Salesian Family at work on Communication

22 February 2022

(ANS - Rome) - In the early afternoon of Saturday, February 19, 2022, the meeting of the reference persons for the Communication sector of the different groups of the Salesian Family (SF) took place online. During the meeting, the new website of the Salesian Family was discussed and various proposals were made to encourage internal collaboration.

The meeting was attended by a broad representation of 14 of the 32 groups of the Salesian Family. Specifically:

-      Salesians (SDB)

-      Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA)

-      Salesian Cooperators (SSCC)

-      Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA)

-      Past pupils SDB (EX.DB)

-      Past pupils FMA (EX.FMA)

-      Volunteers with Don Bosco (CDB)

-      Canção Nova (CN)

-      Community of the Mission of Don Bosco (CMB)

-      Damas Salesianas (ADS)

-      Daughters of the Divine Savior (HDS)

-      Daughters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate (DQM)

-      Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC)

-      Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (SIMH)

After the opening prayer - taken from the Message of Pope Francis for the 56th World Communications Day, on the theme "Listening with the ear of the heart" - it was recalled that for some time now the various groups of the Salesian Family have had the desire to communicate and share news, so much so that already several years ago a first site of the Salesian Family was created.

Now, after a work of revision and restyling, a new version of the site is available - at the address www.famigliasalesiana.org - which, as was observed, "must be considered an instrument of the whole Salesian Family and as such needs the contribution of each single Group".

Taking the floor, the CN representative illustrated the different sections of the new site, reiterating that the basic idea is that it can become a sort of "showcase" for all the Groups of the SF. At the moment the site is still under construction and some pages are still to be set up. The idea is that it could also become an archive where useful resources and documentation can be easily consulted.

Suggestions and observations were also shared during the meeting. "People like the new site because it appears to be streamlined and not heavy, very 'modern' and because it provides for the sharing of common documents," reported one of the participants.

"They like the graphics, essential and modern. It would probably be useful to better specify some menu items, and that the documents find a more precise and specific location," was another voice heard on the occasion.

Still reflecting on how to animate the site, it was suggested to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the "Charter of Charismatic Identity of the Salesian Family" with the publication of an article on this topic by each group.

In consideration of the initiatives and events important to each individual group, it was also suggested that each group digitally share a calendar of their most significant events being planned.

Other ideas in the pipeline concern the daily publication of a phrase by Don Bosco, Mother Mazzarello, St. Francis de Sales, or other Salesian holiness figures, and the creation of video and/or audio on the "Identity Card".
