21 February 2022

(ANS - São Leopoldo) - After a week of intense activity and profound opportunities for prayer and reflection, the Spiritual Exercises led by the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, to the Provincials and Provincial Councils of the America South Cone Region with the Rector Major concluded on Friday, February 18. The dynamics of the week, proposed by the Rector Major himself, included, in addition to times of prayer, daily reflections on the themes of the 28th General Chapter.

Among the topics addressed:

- The Provincials and their Councilors: men of God;

- Which Salesians for today’s youth? The spirit and style of a Salesian of Don Bosco;

- Don Bosco and the Rectors Major... to the Provincials and their Councils;

- Study to be loved;

- Signs and bearers of God's love: three priorities for the Provincials and their Councils;

- Prompted by the Spirit for the young, the poorest, the most abandoned.

During the concluding Mass, the Rector Major thanked all those present for their availability and openness, especially those who, in their respective Provinces, have the primary role of animating and governing their confreres.

Finally, on Friday evening, the Province of St. Pius X of Brazil-Porto Alegre (BPA) offered a moment of celebration and fraternity, during which, in addition to conviviality and sharing, all those present were able to enjoy a typical presentation of Rio Grande do Sul, with dances, cultural events, and traditional dishes.
