The students welcomed him into the center and asked him several questions: about his political work, his studies, and also about the football championship. Later, the Mayor, assisted by a school student, unveiled the plaque commemorating the centenary of the Salesian house.
A plaque on which one of Don Bosco's most popular phrases appears: “I love you with all my heart, and it is enough that you are young for me to love you”.
Subsequently, the Mayor was accompanied by the same pupils from the center along the path of the photographic exhibition which, through all kinds of shots and images, commemorates the 100 years of life of Estrecho; and it was the students themselves who illustrated the key passages of each of the panels to the illustrious guest.
Later, the Mayor visited the school facilities, guided by Fr Sergio Huerta, the institute’s rector. They toured the courtyard, visited the sports facilities, and concluded the journey in the parish church, which houses the second largest dome in the city.
Then the Mayor dedicated some of his time to admire the plaques that pay homage to the Salesian martyrs and to the founder of the work, Fr Antonio Torm; and he concluded his visit by sharing a moment of recreation with the young people and educators in the courtyard. There he played table football, chatted with students, and posed for many photographs. He thanked the Salesians for the invitation and for their work in the neighborhood and wished everyone present a happy feast day of St John Bosco and the best successes for the future in their ministry to young people.
