Dili, East Timor - January 2022 - The Councilor for the East Asia-Oceania Region, Fr Joseph Phuoc, arrived in Dili on January 30 for the first official visit to East Timor since he was elected. He will stay on the island for 24 days, bringing the Rector Major's cordial and paternal message to strengthen the spirit of communion, under the motto "We are a Family". Fr Manuel Pinto, Vicar of the Salesian Vice Province of East Timor (TLS), representing the Superior, welcomed Fr Phuoc together with other Councilors of the TLS Vice Province. The communities of the TLS Vice Province house, the post-novitiate community and the Vocational Training Center greeted the Regional Councilor with some traditional Timorese dances and a welcome song. After having celebrated the solemnity of St. John Bosco, on 31 January in Dili, Fr Phuoc shall visit all the communities of the TLS Vice Province due to the consultations for the next TLS Superior for the next six-year term.
