Mirik, India - November 2021 - On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Don Bosco Church in Mirik, the only Catholic church in the area, a life-size statue of the Italian Salesian missionary Fr Luigi Jellici was inaugurated on 27 November. The event was presided over by Most Rev. Stephen Lepcha, Bishop of Darjeeling-Sikkim, who, in the presence of 33 priests, dozens of nuns, catechists, and about 300 lay faithful, unveiled and blessed the statue of Fr Jellici placed on the lawn in front of the church to commemorate his contribution to the missions in the area.
