The Youth Centre is a joint venture between the parish “Mary Queen of the Apostles” and the Salesians. The Youth Center has Football, Basketball and Volleyball training every Saturday and Sunday. There are dance and singing classes, guitar and piano classes and a brass brand. Besides these, there is also an oratory with attractive games and sessions for the young. There are also monthly spiritual activities and competitions.
The inaugural day began with the Eucharistic celebration at the Parish Church, which was well animated by the children, their Animators and the Salesians. Later on, a number of fancy-fete games were organized with great prices. A friendly football match was held between the parish team and boys of the youth center. The day came to an end with an amazing Talent Competition with some thrilling dance and singing by the young. One of the youngsters said: “It’s also fun to be at Don Bosco.”
The Coordinator Br. Casmir Dovi-Gaba, from Togo, a second-year student of Theology explained the aim of the youth center, and the activities for the year, before the beautiful day ended.
The Salesians of Don Bosco in the Nkol’Afeme community are assessing the situation of children and youth and are getting familiar with the local culture and people. They want to create a model youth centre for education and culture, a centre of spiritual animation and a place where the young will feel at home.
