Slovenia - A New Opening for the Europe Project: Slovenia
Ljubljana, Slovenia - September 2021 - From 12 to 16 September the General Councilor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, visited the "Saints Cyril and Methodius" Province of Slovenia (SLO) in the context of Project Europe. A result of the GC26, Project Europe aims to revive the Salesian charism in the Old Continent, requiring: the endogenous revitalization of the charism in every Salesian and community; the restructuring of the presences of the Provinces; and the sending of missionaries. During the last winter session, the Rector Major and his Council approved the plan for the revitalization of the charism presented by the Provincial, Fr Marko Košnik and the Provincial Council of Slovenia. Fr Maravilla visited a number of presences and met the Provincial Council, the Rectors and the Salesians of the Provincial House, to help them appreciate the need for the assistance from missionaries in today's Europe. "It is a step as courageous as it is prophetic for the whole Province because it requires, above all, a change of mentality and openness. But if this unique opportunity is taken up, it will certainly lead to a revitalization of the Salesian charism,” said the Missions Councilor. Three missionaries of the 152nd Mission Expedition are destined for the SLO Province this year.
