Quito, Ecuador - August 2021 – On Sunday, 29 August, the joy of the young volunteers returned to fill the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in the neighborhood of El Girón in Quito, after more than two years since the last missionary expedition ceremony. Fr Francisco Sánchez, Salesian Provincial of Ecuador (ECU), presided over the Mass "Sierra - Oriente 2021-2022", where 18 boys and girls from the communities of Quito received blessings, a cross and their mission destination. To respect the capacity allowed inside the Shrine, another group of 23 young people, connected from other provinces, received the similar mandate in virtual mode. Despite the pandemic, the “Salesian Family Missionary Youth Volunteer Service” continues, thanks to these young people who every year renew their hope that a better world is possible for those most in need, as Don Bosco had dreamt.
