Spain - Solidarity Feast of Salesian Family for 50th anniversary of "Misiones Salesianas"
Madrid, Spain - April 2021 - On 17 April, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Salesian Mission Office of Madrid, “Misiones Salesianas”, the “Feast Day of Solidarity of the Salesian Family” was celebrated. Due to the pandemic, the celebration was postponed from last year and took place online, broadcast live on the “Misiones Salesianas” YouTube channel. The musician Toño Casado and the magician Juan Luque spoke during the event, and video greetings from 50 Salesian missionaries from various parts of the world were broadcast, including Salesian Cardinal Cristóbal López, archbishop of Rabat. Then there was a game based on Salesian news and a photo contest on social networks with the hashtag #ContigoEnLaMision. Finally, the video message from the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, underlined: “These are 50 years of magnificent work in various continents. I've seen life and actions in these continents thanks to the solidarity and work of Misiones Salesianas.” Ultimately, it was a family feast, of celebration and also of laying the first stones of the next 50 years of mission, always in communion.
