Don Bosco Boys’ Town is a Technical Training Institute which imparts Technical skills to youth from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. The students come from the slums and other informal settlements in Kenya. It was started in 1985. Over the last 35 years over 6000 youth, boys and girls, have completed their education at Boys’ Town, most of whom are doing well in society. There are nine trades that are taught here and a secretarial course as well.
The ministry of Boys’ Town to the young people aims to prepare them for life with technical skills and life-skills to prepare them for the future, thus preparing them to be good Christians and honest Citizens. Extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, acrobatics, karate, etc., are organized to enhance their life in the future. The majority of the graduates are employed.
Don Bosco Boys’ Town depends on well-wishers and donors to meet its ministry to the poor youth. In the past, we had been blessed, but as it is now, we are going through difficult times to find those who can support us.
During the opening ceremony, all the Salesians, staff (teaching, non-teaching and workers) were introduced. All the rules and regulations were explained and each one was challenged to be the best they can be in this year that we are beginning in spite of COVID-19. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no outsiders were invited.
