The event was conducted and moderated by Professor Prayash Rai, Director of the History Department at the Salesian Institute of Sonada.
Fr Babu, Director of the History Department of the Salesian Institute of Siliguri, after obtaining an MA in History, then complete a M.Phil degree in Tourism and subsequently completed a PhD in Tourism Management.
“This book is mainly intended to be a reader for undergraduate students of various Indian universities especially those who have History as the major subject in graduation,” said the author. “It can also be a source book for all those who want to know the phenomenal growth of China as an economic and military power in the recent decades.”
The book traces the developments of Chinese history from the late 19th century through to more recent history, including the 2008 Olympics and handling the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
The work earned the acclaim of Dr Binayak Sundas, of the Center for Himalayan Studies at the University of North Bengal. “The topic-wise discussions make it very easy to follow, and the clarity in the language allows one to retain major information and debates.”
