Brazil – Salesian Radios of Americas Meeting
Brazil - September 2020 - On 25 and 26 September, the Meeting of Salesian Radio Stations of the Americas was held on the Zoom platform. It was chaired by Fr Gildásio Mendes dos Santos, General Councilor for Social Communication, with 87 participants including managers of Salesian radio stations and Provincial Delegates for Social Communication from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru. The meeting began with the musical intervention of Fr João Carlos and a young Bolivian, Adolf; then Fr René Marca (Bolivia), coordinator of the event, gave the welcome, followed by greetings from Fr Mendes dos Santos, and the presentation of the participants. On the first day, the eight priorities of the Salesian Congregation for this six-year term were presented, the theme “Radio as a means of education”, and some good practices. The following day, Fr Fábio Mercedes and Zaida Navarrete started group work on the Instrumentum Laboris on Social Communication the Department is developing as a reference framework for the entire Salesian Congregation. The meeting also proposed to produce concrete guidelines accepted by all in the area of the Salesian radios of the Americas.
