India - Effects of lockdown: quite singular freshmen at "Assam Don Bosco University"
Guwahati, India - May 2019 - "Assam Don Bosco University" (ADBU), the first Catholic university in India, based in Guwahati, Assam State, usually hosts 1,400 students who reside on campus and 2,000 other students attending classrooms and laboratories. Now that there are only 200 physically present students, locked in boarding schools, several wild animals - about 15 elephants and a primate (Nycetibus), for example - feel safe enough to wander around the beautiful green spaces of school's campus. At the academic level, as long as the lockdown persists, the Salesian university shall be keeping lessons active online. "I always repeat to my staff that we have only one goal: our students must emerge victorious from this experience," said the Rector, Fr Stephen Mavely.
