Sumba Island, Indonesia - February 2016 - The Salesian presence in Sumba Island, Indonesia, began in 2001, with the novitiate and a small vocational training centre. During these 15 years the Salesian community has grown and now has two levels of initial formation, pre-novitiate and novitiate, and has recently obtained official government recognition as a High School. "SMK Don Bosco" has also opened a new chemistry laboratory. The work also has an oratory, a boarding school and a parish.
Manila, Philippines - February 2016 - On 20 February, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle Gokim, Archbishop of Manila, presided at the celebration of the re-enthronement of the statue of Mary Help of Christians in Manila Cathedral. Fr Anthony Bicomong, Superior of the Northern Philippines Province (FIN), was present for the occasion.
(ANS – Rome) – On the occasion of the liturgical feast of Don Bosco, a new volume of the critical edition of the letters of our Saint appeared in bookstores. Like the previous ones, the book was edited by Fr. Francesco Motto, former Director of the Salesian Historical Institute and now President of the Association of Salesian Historians and Professor at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS).
