(ANS – Cologne) – On the 10th of April, Ernest Roig Campi and Jakob Steinkuhl will head towards what might just be the biggest adventures of their lives – a 15 month biking trip from Germany all the way to Vietnam. The starting point of their 15.000 km journey will be the monumental Cologne Cathedral. On their way to the other end of the world, the two qualified nurses aim to raise money for Don Bosco Straßenkinder and will visit several Don Bosco houses.

(ANS - Bogotá) - In many parts of the world technical professions see a decrease in the intake of students. The "skilled trades", such as electricians, locksmiths, plumbers, painters, seem to have lost appeal among young people. Yet these skilled trades are in demand all over the world. Don Bosco understood that to work with the poor and needy young people it was necessary to offer short courses in what today are called "skilled trades." And the Salesians in Colombia continue to provide a learning space for young people who have no other option.

(ANS - Palmeiras) - The Xavantes are an American Indian ethnic group who live in a region of Brazil. They call themselves "A'uwê Uptabí" which means "real people" and speak the Xavante language. They practise ear piercing as an initiation rite. And like "real people" they want to continue living a busy life. During the Easter celebrations some Xavantes received the sacraments of Christian initiation. Today they number a little more than ten thousand and live in confined areas.

(ANS - Guwahati) - Scientific and empirical data have shown that working for women's development also brings many benefits for their families and their communities. Aware of that, the Salesians of the Province of India-Guwahati have promoted Women’s Self-Help Groups (WSHG). On 29 March last they organized a meeting on micro-credit, during which, thanks to agreements with some banks, it was possible to give loans to thirteen women belonging to these self-help groups.
