(ANS – Rome) – The conference titled "Salesian Missions. From the Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud (1919) to the Conciliar Decree Ad Gentes (1965)", promoted by the Salesian Historical Institute (ISS) in collaboration with the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first missionary expedition (1875–2025), concluded successfully, leaving all attendees, both in person and online, as well as the organizing committee, highly satisfied.
(ANS – Niterói) – On 25 April, the Colégio Salesiano Região Oceânica celebrated two decades of work in the city of Niterói with a memorable celebration in the school theatre. The ceremony was attended by authorities such as the Deputy Mayor of Niterói, Isabel Swan, and the Secretary of Educational Development Niterói, Ana Lúcia Schilke, as well as educators and members of the Salesian community.
(ANS – Lubumbashi) – 1 May 2025 will be an unforgettable date for Salesian Youth Ministry in the Central African Province, as the legendary date of the celebration of the special day marking the official closing of the 50th anniversary of the Salesian Games, this beautiful tradition of fraternity and hope lived in joy, which brought together more than 7,500 young people at the Cité des Jeunes, Lubumbashi, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Peru – Pope Francis’ Salesian roots
(ANS – Lima) – Pope Francis’ death which occurred yesterday, Monday 21 April, in Rome, invites us to look back on the Salesian roots of the man who, for the last twelve years, was the 266th Pontiff of the Catholic Church. Much of this information was recounted by Jorge Mario Bergoglio himself in letters written between 1986 and 1990 to Salesian historian Fr Cayetano Bruno (1912-2003), found in the Salesian Historical Archives in Buenos Aires by fellow Salesian and historian Fr Alejandro León and published in the book Francisco y Don Bosco (2014).
