(ANS - Rome) - Early issues of the "Salesian Bulletin" favored the intriguing episodes of the history of the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales and Don Bosco's January letter to the Cooperators, in which he described the works accomplished in the past year and those planned for the current year. Ample space was devoted to "American letters" from missionaries, with intriguing reports of situations, customs, and traditions of vast areas of Latin America totally unknown to readers.
(ANS – Rome) – The Salesian citadel at Valdocco is in a state of excitement over recent days in preparation for the now imminent International Meeting of the Salesian Bulletin (SB). The event, which falls four years after the last edition – and with an editorial and information landscape still in constant evolution – will develop the theme “The Salesian Bulletin in a changing world”. More than 60 Editors, Managers and others in charge of the SB are expected, called to reflect and discuss how to keep perpetually alive one of Don Bosco’s most significant and long-lived creations: the Salesian Bulletin, to be precise.
(ANS - Rome) - Almost certainly a great number of readers have been receiving the monthly Salesian Bulletin (SB) for many years. One often happens to hear that their parents, grandparents and perhaps even great-grandparents read the SB. But perhaps not everyone knows how it came into being and why 146 years ago Don Bosco conceived, produced and popularized it.
(ANS – Rome) - Don Bosco was a priest and educator attentive to the signs of the times. Intuitively, he realised that he could have done much more for the poor and abandoned youth in the city of Turin — and then in the whole world — if he had also dedicated a lifetime to “spreading good books among the people with all the means suggested by ardent charity.” In an 1885 letter he wrote: “This is one of the most important apostolates that Divine Providence has entrusted to me; and you know that I have worked tirelessly, even though engaged in a thousand other occupations.”
(ANS - Rome) - With the upcoming International meeting of the Editors and Directors of Salesian Bulletin (Turin, April 21-26, 2023), a series of publications are planned on ANS that will delve on the origins, charism, mission, meaning and relevance of Salesian Bulletin. The first article published today on ANS is that of Fr Bruno Ferrero, Director of the Italian Salesian Bulletin.
(ANS - Rome) - The Salesian Bulletin (SB) is an original creation of Don Bosco, who founded it in August 1877. He himself prepared the first issue. Today it is published in 132 countries around the world, in 62 editions and read in 31 languages. After so many years, it retains an amazing vitality. All credit is due to its inventor, who had an astounding and acute vision of the future. Don Bosco was a born communicator.
