The visit of Fr Á.F. Artime comes ten years after the last visit of a Rector Major. His visit is expected to last a week until 27 February. There will be three stops in three different areas of the country: Ho Chi Min City, Dalat and Thai Binh. At Ho Chi Min City, the Rector Major will bless the first stone of the new Provincial House. In each place, priority will be given to a long meeting with the Salesians and the Provincial Council, and then also with the Salesian Family and young people.
In the coming weeks, in addition, the Rector Major will visit other areas of the East Asia-Oceania region. At the Team Visit for the South Asia region to be held in Chennai, he will be joined by his Vicar and the other Councillors of the Sectors as well as the Regional Councillor. Then he will visit Thailand. In the space of only one day, 6 March, he will meet the Salesians in the country and the Provincial Council, and then in the afternoon the Salesian Family and young people. In this way, the Rector Major will complete the visit to the Province of Thailand which he began almost a year ago, by meeting the Salesians of the Province who are working as missionaries in Laos and Cambodia.
In addition, from 7 to 11 March, the Rector Major will hold the second of the Team Visits scheduled for Hua Hin, also in Thailand.
Of note, finally, that in these days while the Rector Major is visiting Vietnam, the Provincial Delegation of Mongolia - which hosted the Rector Major last October – is holding its assembly of the confreres, led by the Provincial Delegate, Fr Paul Leung.
