Italy – 1869 - 18 April - 2024: ADMA celebrates its 155th anniversary by contemplating the role of Mary in Don Bosco's Dream at Nine Years of Age

17 April 2024

(ANS – Turin) – On 18 April 2024, the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) celebrates 155 years since its foundation: in Turin on 18 April 1869, by the work of St John Bosco, the year after the consecration of the Church of Mary Help of Christians in Turin (9 June 1868), as a sign of gratitude for the benefits that people recognised as received from the Virgin, and as an instrument for the defence and growth of the faith of the Christian people.

The inspiration that moved Don Bosco was to offer a proposal for a simple Christian life which would support the ordinary life of the faithful, anchoring firmly to the "two columns" of the Eucharist and Mary, Immaculate and Help of Christians.

"Above all, I recommend a great, a tender, true and constant devotion to Mary Most Holy. Oh, if you knew how important this devotion is, you would not change it for all the gold in the world!” said St John Bosco.

On the occasion of the anniversary celebration, from the Primary ADMA of Turin-Valdocco comes an invitation to strengthen this devotion through one of the tools of Marian devotion and of the Association. And because of the coincidence of this particular anniversary of ADMA with the Bicentenary of Don Bosco's Childhood Dream, the spiritual proposal to celebrate this anniversary is to pray the Rosary together on 18 April associating each mystery with some biblical references and young John's dream.

"Don Bosco also invites us on this occasion to renew our love and our entrustment to Mary. Let us then offer her this Rosary with filial love and trust, contemplating her presence in the Dream which is at the foundation of the charism of the entire Salesian Family", the Primary ADMA says.

From the links below you can access the texts of the Rosary in five languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese).
