In the early morning of 8 August 2016, in the cemetery of Santa Clara, the mortal remains of the Servant of God Fr José Vandor SDB, were exhumed in the presence of Bishop Fernando Prego, first bishop of Santa Clara, and the Salesian priest Rafael Giordano. Later on the same day the remains were transferred privately to the diocese of Santa Clara.
Then, on the evening of Wednesday 10 August there was the recognition of the mortal remains of the Servant of God, by medical expert, Doctor Noel Pablo Gómez, still in private, in the presence of the diocesan bishop, Arturo González Amador; Fr Bruno Roccaro, SDB, Promoter of the cause of canonization of Fr José Vandor; with deacon José Gálvez and Ms Xiomara Hernández as witnesses; and Fr Juan Manuel Fernández as notary. When the process was complete the remains of the Servant of God were placed in a new ossuary and all relevant documents were signed.
