(ANS – Rome) – A life on three continents rich in stories and events, meeting so many people and with so many experiences, in his native land in Spain, in Africa, ranging through various countries of West Africa, and now in Brazil, in contact and service with the indigenous peoples: the 71 years of life of Fr Juan Carlos Ingunza Uscola, one of the ten missionaries who took part in the "Return to the Source Course" promoted by the Missions Sector to bring missionaries ad gentes who have reached old age back to the charismatic source.
(ANS – Roma) – The new premises of the Salesian General Postulation in the Zefferino Namancurà Community in Rome were opened and blessed on Tuesday 4 June 2024 by the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime. With him were several members of the General Council and others from Salesian Headquarters. The presence of Msgr Maurizio Tagliaferri, speaker at the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, and Father Sergio La Pegna, Official and Superior General of the Doctrinars, were significant.
(ANS – Cologne) – For nine years now, the Polish Salesians from the St Hyacinth Province of Krakow, Poland (PLS) have taken charge of pastoral care for Italians in Cologne, left by the Scalabrinian Fathers. In this period not only have the usual activities been carried out, but new initiatives have been born, especially for young people.
(ANS – Bangalore) – Vaping is cool. Many youngsters in urban schools and colleges would say that. There’s a culture created around it to promote its coolness, which is probably why 23% of the college kids in an India Today survey use e-cigarettes. Gen Z vapers have their own vocabulary, memes, cartoons, videos and other social media content to share their experiences.
(ANS – Bruxelles) – Between 6 and 9 June 2024, approximately 350 million people in the 27 EU Member States will be called upon to cast their votes in the 10th European elections. In view of this important political commitment, the COMECE Youth Platform, which brings together Catholic youth organizations active at the EU level, promotes the ‘Catholic Toolkit for Young Europeans’, a comprehensive toolkit that aims to empower young people across Europe to actively engage in the democratic process, guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
(ANS – Rome) – Portuguese, 78 years old, active for more than half of his life – 41 years – in Mozambique: this is, in a nutshell, the identity of Fr Francisco Gonçalves Lourenço, Salesian of Don Bosco and missionary, who in May was among the first 10 participants in the "Return to the Source Course" designed by the Missions Sector to encourage the return "to the source" for elderly Salesian missionaries.
