(ANS – Santo Domingo) – A solemn ceremony was held on Wednesday, 5 June, 2024 at the "Plaza Educativa Don Bosco", during which Dominican State signed a contract to donate the land on which the the Salesian Society's work stands. The event, which began at 11 a.m., was attended by Fr José Pastor Ramírez, Superior of the Salesians of the Province of the Antilles (ANT); Fr Carlos Antonio Piantini Brito, Rector of the Plaza Educativa Don Bosco; Fr Juan Linares Muñoz, parish priest at the Plaza Educativa Don Bosco; Dr Rafael A. Burgos Gómez, General Director of National Heritage and Honorary Director of the State Sugar Council; in addition to directors and officials of the National Heritage there were other authorities from the Plaza Educativa Don Bosco and various distinguished guests.
(ANS – Nairobi) – Africa has a large population of young people and the potential to drive socio-economic development of the continent. However, this can only be achieved through effective education and skilling of youth. Strategic discussions and partnerships among like-minded organizations are pivotal steps toward achieving these initiatives.
(ANS – Rome) – Resilience, humility and abandonment are qualities that Fr Severino Laredo Neila has made his own in his life, resources that have often come in handy in the many circumstances in which he had to change his plans to rely on those of Someone greater than himself. The "Return to the Source Course", organised by the Mission Sector for elderly and long-term missionaries, gave a rich testimony, which we share here.
(ANS– San Miguel) – On Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 May 2024, at the María Auxiliadora retreat house in San Miguel, the Superior of the Ceferino Namuncurá Province of Southern Argentina (ARS), Fr Dario Perera, summoned all the Rectors of the Salesian houses of the Province for a new meeting that was different from the usual one: it was the conclusion of the Extraordinary Visitation to the Province, carried out over the last 4 months on behalf of the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, by the Regional Councillor for South America, Fr Gabriel Romero, and Fr Alfonso Bauer, Master of Novices at the inter-provincial Novitiate in Montevideo.
(ANS – Seoul) – On 4 June, the 18th Provincial Chapter of the KOR began in the conference room on the 5th floor of the Provincial House in Seoul involving 34 Salesians, 32 delegates and 2 observers. The provincial chapter serves as the province's preparation for the theme of the 29th General Chapter, “Passionate about Jesus Christ, dedicated to young people”.
