Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, as part of the work of the summer plenary session of the General Council and with the consent of the other members of his Council, has appointed Fr José Ariel Guerrero Castro as Superior of the St Luis Bertrand Province of Medellín, Colombia, for the 2024-2030 period.
(ANS) – The congregational SALESIAN MISSIONARY VOLUNTEERING advisory team keeps moving forward! As you may remember, we had our meeting earlier this year in March. If you could not participate and are interested in seeing what happened during those days, the advisory team has created the ACTS of the meetings. In this document, you will find all the essential topics discussed, such as Salesian Missionary Volunteer identity, the survey results taken by our past volunteers, laity and partnerships, accompaniment, and more. (ANS – Rome) – During the General Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Roman Pontifical Universities and Institutions (CRUIPRO), held in the afternoon of 17 June 2024, the rotation of the presidency of the Association took place: Prof. Fr. Luis Navarro, Rector of the Holy Cross, finished his term and the Assembly elected the rector of the Pontifical Salesian University, Prof. Fr. Andrea Bozzolo, SDB, as president for the next three years.
(ANS – Ivato) – The school year is coming to an end at the Salesian Notre Dame de Clairvaux mission in Ivato, near the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo. The months of April and May passed peacefully and at the end of June, after school, there will be state exams to obtain the Certificate of Professional Qualification, followed by a small reception for the delivery of the certificates, before the various students begin the last stage of their journey: the final internship in various companies.
(ANS – Bruxelles) – To celebrate the World Refugee Day (June 20), on 11 June, Don Bosco International, the Jesuit Refugee Service Europe (JRS), the Chapel for Europe, and Sant’Egidio (Belgium) held an event intitled “Voices of Hope”, with the aim of promoting positive stories and best social practices with people on the move.
