The history of this Educational Unit began in 1998 when Mr. Juan Rospilloso Mita, General Director and owner of the Don Bosco Private School of Potosí, managed the opening of an afternoon public elementary school in agreement with the Departmental Bureau of Education and with the support and patronage of the Don Bosco National Director of the People's Schools of Don Bosco (EPDB), Fr Luis Chamizo, SDB. The agreement was signed on 22 March, 1999.
Both educational units shared the same structures with the private school until the growth of the school population called for a new infrastructure. This was done between 2001 and 2005, thanks to a project presented by EPDB to “Japanese Cooperation.” But the ever-increasing number of students required even larger structures, so in mid-2012, the Principal, Monica Triveño, and the parents of the students planned an expansion under the program: "La Bolivia changes - Evo does."
On 19 March, 2017, the first stone was laid and work proceeded regularly until the inauguration. At present, the two schools, private and public, contribute greatly to the education of thousands of children and young people of Potosí in the style of Don Bosco.
EPDB is an organization that is dependent on the Salesian Congregation which, through the Inter-Institutional Agreement (State-Church), manages public educational institutions and works for the quality of education through the values of Catholic and Salesian formation. The EPDB is currently forming over 123,000 students through the work of more than 3,000 teachers in 250 education centers in seven departments of Bolivia: La Paz, Oruro, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Beni, Chuquisaca and Potosí.
