India - Salesian Cooperator receives highest civil honors from the President of India
New Delhi, India - November 2021 - On November 9, the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, conferred the fourth highest Indian civil honor, called "Padma Shri", on the Salesian Cooperator Trinity Saioo, for promoting the best of the varieties of Indian spices: “Lakadong Chyrmit” turmeric. Trinity Saioo is a teacher at the school in the Mulieh village, attached to the Salesian parish of Mawkyndeng, in the diocese of Jowai, Meghalaya, in the north-east of India. Trinity is 52 years old, the mother of six children. Popularly known as “Curcuma Trinity”, with her 18 years of experience in the field, she inspired the Meghalayan state government to launch the “Lakadong” mission in 2018 which aims to intensify turmeric production.
