Wrocław, Poland – December 2023 - From passivity to involvement: this was the main idea that remained in the head and hearts of the 30 young people from Salesian works in the Province of Poland-Wrocław (PLO) who met between Christmas and New Year at the Don Bosco school complex in Wrocław for the 4th Youth Chapter 2023. The event, on the theme "Our Valdocco", was opened by Fr Bartłomiej Polański, Superior of the Province of Poland-Wrocław (PLO). In the Salesian charism the voice of young people is crucial, so a forum of this kind is a moment of reflection, planning and evaluation of the activities underway in local institutions, to obtain a complete picture of the state of youth activities in the PLO Province – as pointed out by the main organiser of the event, Fr Mikołaj Wyczalek, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry. For the young people it was not only an opportunity to meet their peers, but above all an opportunity to actively participate in the discussion on the directions of development of the Church, communities and missions. It was a moment of learning, inspiration and building a community based on the values preached by Don Bosco. As the Salesians themselves point out, through participation in the Chapter young people become active architects of the future of the Salesian Congregation, influencing the vision and programming of Salesian activities at the global level. "We can therefore do nothing but wait for the good fruits of the involvement of young people in the evangelising work of the Church", conclude the PLO Salesians.
