Colombia - VI Festival of Salesian Symphonic Bands
Bogotá, Colombia - October 2019 - On 18 and 19 October, at the "Centro Don Bosco" Industrial Technical Institute, the VI Festival of the Salesian Symphonic Bands of the Bogotá Province took place. Starting this year, the festival will be named after the late Fr Mario Peresson Tonelli, SDB, founder of the "Provincial Project of Symphonic Bands" in 2011, and of the Festival of Salesian Symphonic Bands in 2014. At the death of Fr Peresson, it was Fr Jaime Morales to take over the project's general direction, and it is under his direction that the VI edition of the Festival took place. It was divided into two parts: the Evaluation of the 13 Symphonic Bands and the Great Concert performed by all the bands, for a total of 600 musicians. The jury awarded third place to the Symphonic Band of the Salesian College "Miguel Unia", of Agua de Dios; second place to the Symphonic Band of the Salesian Technical Institute "Eloy Valenzuela", of Bucaramanga; and first place to the Symphonic Band of the Salesian College "Juan del Rizzo", in Bogotá.
