The initiative was born thanks to the collaboration of several authoritative entities, among which: the Campania Region, private parties and the Salesians; all together they have put the different skills in place to create this vocational training school to offer teenagers and young people from Italy's Campania region an opportunity for a possible – and better - future.
Chiara Marciani, public Councilor in charge of Vocational Training, said that the choice to offer a professional training path is now more than ever an urgency against the rampant phenomenon of young people leaving school early and before completion.
The organizational capacity of the "Riva" association, capable of investing and directing funds to socially useful projects, combined with the Salesians' experience and passion for the education of youth, have made of this new vocational school a winning combination from the standpoint of education, professional skills being provided and as an answer to the area's needs.
The school will start with two courses: one for motor vehicle repairers to form future mechanics, and the other for logistics system operators to train warehouse management experts.
"Each of our projects has a name, starts with a particular story," said Alessando Mele of the "Cometa" association, also a partner of the big project of the vocational school.
A living project, rich in constructive diversity that, as Fr Fabio Bellino, Director of the Oratory of Naples "Don Bosco", observed, a project that allowed the Salesians to return to being a reference for the education of young Neapolitans, especially those who live in situations of marginalization and difficulty.
Quoting the famous psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, Fr Tonino Palmese, Salesian and president of the "Polis" association, which has always been active in the fight against the mafia, concluded by sharing a thought that embodies the sense of this new vocational training school experience: "The most important thing in life is to learn to love someone and to be able to do something."
