(ANS - Rome) - The seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian Family (SF), held this past 11 and 12 April, saw a succession of highly enriching presentations and talks.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Fr Bogusław Turek, CSMA, presented the modalities accompanying the legal and medical discussions and evaluations by the commission of seven experts responsible for the first assessment of the alleged miracle, once the Roman phase of the process has been reached.

On the following day, the assembly followed with interest the intervention of Msgr. Carmelo Pellegrino, Secretary of the Congregation and Promoter of the Faith, who illustrated with great precision and in a very accessible fashion, the nature, the reasons and the modalities of the theological process, second step in the Roman phase of the entire process, entrusted to a commission of nine theologians. Finally, he presented the new path for beatification and canonization, opened with the recent motu proprio "Maiorem ac dilectionem" by Pope Francis: the offer of life.

Dr. Lodovica Maria Zanet, a collaborator of the Postulation of the Causes of the Salesian Family, explained and completed the picture by illustrating all the steps prior to the Roman phase. Special attention was given to intercession, where the faithful turn to those they consider to be in full communion with God, "Inter-cede means walking in the middle, and in this way intervening in favor of. It is a relationship of trust and closeness, where our faith is the first to benefit from; the more it is a journey of community, the more it bears fruit and brings forward all those who allow themselves to become involved," she emphasized.

Already in the morning Eucharist, Fr Rossano Sala, special Secretary of the next Synod of Bishops, had invited the audience to value the prophecy of holiness as a gift for the young – who demonstrate to be much more open to receiving it than is often imagined.

The Salesian "Goodnight" at the end of the day was offered by the dean of the seminary, Fr Roccaro Bruno, 98 years old, Salesian in Cuba, curator of the cause of the Servant of God, Fr José Vandor. He shared his program of life, the cipher of holiness to which all are summoned: "Let it be that I know you and love you, make you known and make you loved."
