Brazil - 320th Assembly of the National Council for Child and Adolescent Rights
Belo Horizonte, Brazil - November 2023 - The Salesian CESAM-DF of the Brazil-Belo Horizonte Province (BBH) was the host for the 320th Assembly of the National Council of Child and Adolescent Rights (CONANDA in Portuguese). A major event that brought together representatives of various institutions related to the promotion and protection of the rights of children and adolescents. Participants included members of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the Secretariat for Basic Education of the Ministry of Education (MEC), as well as representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the National Network for Children. (RNPI). The diversity of perspectives enriched the discussions on the future and policies for Early Childhood in Brazil. One of the focal points of the Assembly was the analysis of the National Plan for Childhood, a document guiding actions and strategies to ensure the full development and well-being of children in the first years of life. The discussion included the exchange of experiences, presentation of data and reflection on the challenges and progress in the implementation of policies aimed at this crucial stage of life. CONANDA stressed the importance of working together to strengthen the protection of the rights of children and adolescents throughout the country. In addition, the Committee of Adolescent Participation (CPA) was given an opportunity to share its perspectives and demands, reinforcing the importance of actively listening to the voices of young people in the formulation and implementation of public policies. CESAM-DF, as host, reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of fundamental rights, contributing to the construction of a more just and inclusive society.
