Chile - The Salesians in Talca celebrate 135th anniversary of Salesian presence
Talca, Chile - September 2023 - The Salesian Educational Centre in Talca is celebrating its 135th anniversary of presence in the city this year. It was 18 February 1888 when four Salesians arrived in Talca to found a new house, the third in Chile. The aim of the celebrations today is to strengthen the Salesian charismatic identity, the link with the local and national reality, and to celebrate the gift of charism and mission, renewing fidelity to Saint John Bosco. For this reason, various activities have been implemented: photographic exhibitions with testimonies of the history of the Salesian presence in Talca; production of calendars, notebooks and institutional pencils, creation of a logo; writing competitions, parties, traditional dance competitions; and finally, an anniversary song has also been composed. The central act of the celebrations took place on 29 September, when Bishop Galo Fernández, Bishop of Talca, presided at the Mass - Te Deum for 135 years of Salesian presence in Talca Cathedral.
