In preparation for the pilgrimage, the Salesian Province of South Argentina (ARS), which has the young Blessed of Mapuche ethnicity as its patron, has made available online a whole series of materials to know, learn, pray and reflect on the figure of Ceferino and his relevance even today, more than a century after the conclusion of his earthly pilgrimage.
In the same way over these days, the diocese of Viedma, in whose territory the town of Chimpay falls, and whose bishop is Salesian Bishop Esteban María Laxague, has planned a solid program with various religious, cultural and recreational activities.
On Saturdays, for example, there is a Mass to welcome pilgrims, various moments of prayer, the celebration of Ceferino Namuncurà's birthday with games and recreational places, and, in the evening, a youth agape, with songs and dances.
The main activities will take place, however, on Sunday 27th. It will begin at 7 a.m. with the dawn prayer on the hill of the Fifth Centenary Cross (on National Road 22); at 9 a.m. the procession will begin, which will be animated by radio (which is why pilgrims are invited to bring their radios); and at 11 a.m. the pilgrims are expected to arrive at the Park of the Ceferino Shrine, where Mass will be celebrated and where, subsequently, the blessing and missionary sending of the young people present will take place.
Finally, the aspect of solidarity will not be forgotten: in a land where there are many needs, pilgrims are invited to bring and share clothes, shoes and food.
