"The spiritual life draws from the Word for spiritual discernment, celebrates in the liturgy and the sacraments, and is nourished by prayer. Therefore, in a journey of growth in faith, spiritual accompaniment must treat the prayerful dimension of the person. In the formation of young people there should be a place for education in prayer” according to the Department for Youth Ministry.
This seminar is intended for Salesians and lay people involved in the personal accompaniment of young people and others who have practical experience in education to the life of prayer as part of Salesian Youth Ministry.
The letter sent by the Councillor General for Youth Ministry, Fr Fabio Attard, and the brochure attached give the following objectives: to discover the importance of education and the role of prayer in the sources of Salesian spirituality; sharing practice in accompanying prayer with children, adolescents and young people; reflecting on the various methods and modes of prayer to find the one that best suits each person, using a Salesian style and a practical approach.
The proposed contents include prayer in Salesian spirituality, prayer and spiritual accompaniment, and programmes of prayer and sharing. These will be developed through different working modes: lectures, guided workshops, prayer, personal work and group work. Finally, in the seminar there will be time for workshops where some experiences of accompaniment in prayer will be presented.
