Brazil - Salesian High School in Salvador celebrates 123 years of education in Bahia
Bahia, Brazil - March 2023 - On March 11, the Salesian High School in Salvador celebrated 123 years of education in Bahia. The institute was inaugurated on 11 March 1900 by Fr. Giordano, the first Salesian to arrive in the state in 1897. The celebration, which began with a solemn Mass, was marked by an apostolic blessing by Fr. Eudes Barreto, Director General of "Salesianos Bahia," and a speech by Graça Macedo, Educational Director of the high school. Both expressed great satisfaction with the school's renowned history. "The path of the secondary school in Bahia includes active participation in major events and academic training. Through an integrated approach, the Salesian Network's engagement with the education of youth and children has borne fruit for more than a century in this region. We have imprinted on us the diverse stories of so many students who, when they reach the professional level, continue to put into practice what they have learned here. All this has been the result of our humane education and values-based teaching," said the Headmistress. During the liturgical act, students from various classes celebrated the anniversary with a performance of the history of the institution's educational beginnings. After the Mass, the festivities continued in the school courtyards, where event participants enjoyed music, food, art activities and games.
