27 September 2021

(ANS - Santiago de Chile) - On Friday 10 September, the Salesian Academy of Arts and Communications (ASAC in Spanish) concluded the second online training programme organized by the Salesian multimedia center "Caetera Tolle". It brought together students of 22 Salesian schools in the country.

The day began with a greeting from Vicente Fritz, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication, who thanked all the participants in the workshop for their commitment. "We hope this experience has been an opportunity for growth of you as it has been for us. Continue on towards the path of the arts and communications," said Vicente Fritz. Subsequently, he underscored the importance of this Academy, fundamental both in the field of communication and in that of education.

Felipe Valdés, Director of the Multimedia Center, thanked each of the young people for their participation. In fact, during the two weeks of the Academy, they connected assiduously, both in synchronous and asynchronous mode.

"For the multimedia center,” said Valdés, “it is very gratifying to see these young people learn from the courses offered in this second edition, which challenges us to continue to adapt to their needs and those of the pandemic context. However, we are still thinking that in the future we will be able to keep the Academy in the studios of Caetera Tolle," he added.

The workshops held this year were:

- Comics, focused on character design and creating short stories;
- Audio, focused on recording tracks with minimal resources;
- Social Media, focused on the viral phenomenon of influencers, their digital strategies and content management for digital platforms.

Then there was a Design workshop, which explained how to generate their own animations for social networks. The Photography workshop focused on the self-portrait technique and the expression of emotions through it. Finally, the Video workshop focused on audiovisual streaming using OBS Studio software.

At the end of the day, the participants each had a moment to express how they felt during the two weeks of the Academy.

"I want to thank the entire team, especially the teacher of the video lab, for teaching us many useful tools for the future. The experience has helped me to meet new people who share my love for video," commented Benjamín Lepe, of the Don Bosco Oratory School.

The recent Academy gave the participants the necessary tools to continue to generate their own communication projects with the Salesian imprint.

"This is the second Academy we have held and it is gratifying to hear your comments and reflections. I am very happy with the results," concluded José Antonio Rodriguez, head of the photography workshop.
