Due to the pandemic, the 34th edition of the Prize takes place online, and was opened on the morning of Tuesday 9 March with the official inauguration and the virtual exhibition, where you can visit the stands of each project, contact the authors and see the prototype of the individual works.
Among these, there are some especially current ones:
- The "Family Booth" project, which seeks to give a second life to telephone booths, transforming them into a technological point that favors access to new technologies for the elderly. “Our loved ones are isolated because of the health situation we live in or because they are far away and cannot travel. Our project aims to humanize technological communications,” explained the authors.
- "Clean Air Systems" aims to create a disease transmission control installation; designed for schools, it is also applicable to workplaces or any other public building. With this installation it will be possible to have access control based on body temperature, control of space capacity, ventilation, hydrogel distributors and masks.
- To ensure the quality of the air in an enclosed space, "COncentra2" proposes the measurement of CO2 concentration levels in the air. The novelty of this project is the use of different meters, made with a CO2 sensor based on Arduino programming.
- The project entitled "Self-disinfecting furniture" offers a solution to automatically disinfect street furniture, thus increasing the control of public spaces and reducing the work of cleaning staff.
- Other projects propose innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics, renewable energy or augmented reality, to contribute to the improvement of society.
According to Merche López, Director of the Salesian school in Zaragoza, “participating in this competition stimulates the innovative skills of students and teachers, making them aware of the importance of research and of the possibilities that they themselves have to contribute to improving society.”
With the passing of the different editions, the number of companies and organizations involved has grown, as they see in this competition an incubator of talents and interesting projects.
“Every year there are important companies that reach agreements with young researchers, to make their prototypes,” adds Dr. López.
Open Tuesday 9, the appointment closes this afternoon, at 6:30 pm local time, with the delivery of the Awards by the Director General for Innovation and Vocational Training of the Government of Aragon, Dr. Antonio Martinez.
