(ANS – Rome) – On February 17th, in Naples, the emotional journey of the “Museo della Pace – MAMT” (Museum of Peace) dedicated to the Father and Teacher of the Youth will open its gates. The journey is entitled: “Don Bosco, the Power of Love”. The Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, will also take part in this event.

Through this journey, the Museum of Peace – MAMT (Mediterranean, Art, Music, Tradition) intends to create a “Virtual Salesian Oratory” with the use of videos, music, hypertextual tools, objects, testimonies and findings on the “Saint of the Youth” and on the Salesians in the world: ultimately, a multimedia hub enfolding the essential moments of the activities implemented by the Salesians in 132 countries.

The objective is to produce – through the 107 video walls of the Museum – a platform of initiatives, events, images, testimonies and multimedia documentation that may be useful to spread the message of love of Don Bosco and of the Salesian Family.

The programme of the day comprises:

  • First a prayer to Don Bosco in the Church of “San Giuseppe Maggiore”, where Don Bosco celebrated Mass on March 30th, 1880;
  • Successively a second prayer, in the presence of young migrants and young people engaged in activities of solidarity, at the “Totem of Pace” with the casket of the “Unknown Migrant”, visited by Pope Francis on March 21st, 2015;
  • Then, the commencement of the visit to the Museum of Peace – MAMT, at the ground floor with the inauguration of the space dedicated to “DON BOSCO: THE YOUNG, APOSTLES OF THE YOUNG”;
  • Later on there will be a press conference to present the Museum and its journey, with the screening of the Video “DON BOSCO, THE POWER OF LOVE”;
  • The morning will end with the visit of the journey “One Sea, Three Faiths” (Cribs, Padre Pio, Mother Teresa); the Inauguration of the “Don Bosco Hall” and the blessing of “Don Bosco Chapel” with the relic of the Saint of the Youth.

The Museum of Peace – MAMT is promoted by “Fondazione Mediterraneo” (Mediterranean Foundation), founded and directed by Neapolitan engineer  Michele Capasso, who last October gave to the Rector Major the “Premio Mediterraneo 2016 – Edizione speciale per l’Educazione alla Pace” (Mediterranean Award 2016 – Special Edition for Education to Peace).
