Ariccia, Italy - October 2023 - The work of the Team Visit of the Mediterranean Region ended today, 6 October, after four days of meetings and reflections in the city of Ariccia where, accompanied by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and his Council, the Provincial Councils of Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Middle East and North Africa examined the theme "Building a future of hope" for the Provinces of this Region. Fr Juan Carlos Pèrez Godoy, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region and in charge of presenting the Salesian work in this Region, gave a positive assessment of the work and all that was shared by the participants, explaining how the Visit took place in a  typically Salesian serene and familiar atmosphere.

Vatican City, Vatican - September 2023 - On the morning of Saturday 30 September, during the Ordinary Public Consistory, Pope Francis created the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime a cardinal, assigning him the Diaconate of Our Lady Help of Christians in Via Tuscolana. It was a day of joy and emotion for the entire Salesian Family, and there were many messages of good wishes and support for the new Cardinal. The motto he chose is “Sufficit tibi gratia mea” (My grace is sufficient for you).

Nazareth - September 2023 - To commemorate the Centenary of the Consecration of the Basilica of the Adolescent Jesus in Nazareth which took place on 6 September 1923, on 2 and 3 September the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime visited the city that saw the growth to maturity of Jesus within the Holy Family. On Sunday 3rd, the Rector Major celebrated a solemn Mass of thanksgiving in the Basilica for the important anniversary. It was also an opportunity for the Rector Major to meet the Salesians and young people of the Salesian Province of the Middle East and to pray together with them.

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - September 2023 – Pope Francis' Apostolic Journey to Mongolia, the first by a Pontiff in this country, has come to an end. The Holy Father left at about 12 noon (06.03 in Italy) from the Chinggis Khan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. During these days, the Holy Father had the opportunity to meet the authorities of the country in the capital Ulaanbaatar and the small local Christian community at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, as well as the local religious leaders and the workers at the "House of Mercy". In taking his leave, Pope Francis thanked Mongolia for its generous hospitality. Then, in a telegram to President Khürel Sükh Ukhnaa, he assured him of his prayers for the peace, unity and prosperity of the nation.
