(ANS - Vatican City) – The Ordinary Public Consistory at St. Peter’s Square this morning, 30 September 2023, was indeed a celebration of the universality of the Church and a renewal of the thrust of evangelization, during which the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, was officially created Cardinal.
(ANS – Rome) – On the day on which the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, is solemnly created cardinal, the ANS review on the Sons of Don Bosco who became cardinals concludes. The last Salesian to be created cardinal before the Rector Major was the Timorese Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, who at 55 years of age is currently also one of the youngest members of the College of Cardinals.
(ANS – Mumbai) – The Youth Conference 2023, themed ‘Youth Eco-Activists for Justice and Peace’, was held at Don Bosco Campus, Matunga, on 24 September 2023. The event was hosted by Don Bosco Green Alliance, Greenline Mumbai and Don Bosco Youth Services, and saw 45 youngsters from all over Mumbai participating, united by the common goal of love for Mother Earth.
(ANS) – Young people in Africa face employment challenges, yet they are in a crucial transition stage from dependence to self-reliance. They constitute the continent's majority and are expected to drive social, economic, and political developments. It is, therefore, crucial to address the challenges the youth face in transitioning from school to work. Demographic pressure, low skill sets, social disintegration, lack of knowledge of the transition process, poor governance and economic stagnation are some factors impeding youth transition to work.
(ANS – Kielce) – The 31st National Salesian Youth Games were held from 22 to 24 September, organised by Salos Cortile Kielce, an institution that this year celebrates 25 years since its foundation. The sports event was attended by 850 young people and volunteers from 25 local associations of SALOS (Salesian Sports Organisation of the Polish Republic – SALOS RP).
