(ANS – Port-au-Prince) – Armed gang violence dominates Haiti. The situation of instability that the country is experiencing since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, in 2021, has degenerated in recent days, when Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced his commitment to hold elections before August 2025. Since then the situation has precipitated, with assaults on prisons, mass escapes of dangerous criminals, shootings and attempted assaults on the National Palace, damage to the port and airport and finally, under pressure from criminal gangs, also the resignation of the Prime Minister.

(ANS – Rome) – The cycle of events in the series "What kind of Salesians for the youth of today?" continues, on the Action Programme for the Salesian Congregation after the 28th General Chapter. On Saturday 16 March 2024, Fr Silvio Roggia, Rector of the Zeffirino Namuncurà community in Rome and curator of revision work on the Ratio Studiorum, will interview Bro. Paolo Zini, Salesian brother and professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome, and Fr Matteo Rupil, Salesian priest and pastoral animator of the Salesian University Institute in Turin and professor of Sacramental Theology at the Pontifical Salesian University section in Turin.

(ANS – Rome) – The La Violetta di Don Bosco initiative promoted by Salesians for Social APS, will return on the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March 2024, in 22 oratories, parishes and piazzas in 11 Italian regions.  By buying a Violetta map it will be possible to support the projects carried out in the over 80 facilities where Salesians for Social is present every day, and where more than 1,300 children, teenagers and young people among the most needy are housed and accompanied daily.

(ANS – Rome) – On 15 March 1924, deacon Costantino Vendrame was ordained priest by Bishop Giovanni Mauri, auxiliary bishop of Milan, in the chapel of the Major Seminary there in Milan.

(ANS – Sangradouro) – The stages in the indigenous missions of the Rector Major's Animation Visit to the Saint Alphonsus Province of Campo Grande Brazil ended on Wednesday, 13 March 2024. Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime presided at an outdoor Mass for the entire mission community – indigenous people, Salesians of Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and collaborators of all kinds; then, after affectionate farewells from everyone, he continued his journey towards Cuiabá.

(ANS – Parañaque) – The Salesian Brothers’ Formation House – Blessed István Sándor Community was canonically erected on 4 December 2013 for the specific formation of the Salesian Brothers coming from the regions of East Asia and Oceania, South Asia and Africa-Madagascar, as well as English speaking provinces. It has a team of formators dedicated exclusively for them. It is ideally located within a compound that includes the formation community for the clerics (Seminaryo ng Don Bosco) and the Don Bosco School of Theology.
