Brazil – Youth Ministry Team is launching an application for the new digital playgrounds

05 February 2016

(ANS - Campo Grande) - On the occasion of the Feast of Don Bosco, on 31 January, the Salesian Youth Ministry of the Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso launched the "Juventude Salesian application", to spread the message of the Salesian charism to the youth in the new digital playgrounds.

Web applications (or apps) are so called because they are performed on the Internet. That is, data or files are processed and stored within the web. Anytime, anywhere and on any device, you can access this service, all you need is an internet connection. Young people today live and move in those worlds that the Salesians have called "digital playgrounds"

In his time Don Bosco drew the young through magic, juggling and other games that attracted children and adolescents to the playground. This saint of youth devoted his time to being in their midst and, using their language, could always stay close to them  and so keep them close to God.

"The world has changed a lot. Being young today is different from what it was in the time of Don Bosco,” says Fr Rafael Zanata, Delegate for Salesian Youth Ministry. “To understand how they live, how they are organized, in this social context, it is essential to walk alongside the young people."

With the "Juventude Salesian application" Salesian Youth Ministry offers news and events related to Salesian life, the daily liturgy, songs and pictures of Don Bosco, Salesian spiritual life and daily prayers.

"The application 'Juventude Salesian' is a small step that will make a big difference in the lives of young people, as in the life of the Salesians and Salesian Sisters" said Jailson Reis.
