RMG – Don Bosco Network New Website

22 June 2016

(ANS – Rome) – Don Bosco Network is launching its new website www.donbosconetwork.org with an integrated PDO online platform. It is meant to be an important communication tool between Don Bosco Network members and Salesian Provincial Development Offices worldwide.

by Wojciech Mroczek

The website includes:

Project data base – more than 6,000 projects carried out by Salesian NGOs and Mission Offices in support of Don Bosco Mission worldwide. This Project data base has a modern search engine allowing the user to select and to review projects by the criteria of: donors, years of implementation, countries, status and types of projects. General data is visible for all viewers while specific detailed information about projects is protected by a password and only available for DBN registered users.

An “Emergency corner” with news, documents, photographs, and films on SDB emergency responses worldwide. Basic information is available for all readers while DBN subscribed users have access to photographs, films, fundraising materials, and financial reports for each emergency. This allows for direct and fast exchange of information and materials between Salesians coordinating emergency response on the ground and donors: Salesian NGOs and Mission Offices.

An Advocacy section dedicated to Human Rights/Advocacy work of the Salesian Family. Besides news, subscribers have access to materials and information on Human Rights/Advocacy work of Salesian Family organizations worldwide.

PDO on-line platform with information on PDOs and capacity building materials. This PDO platform, prepared by DBN and VIS with the financial support of the European Union, is dedicated to the Salesian PDOs worldwide. The platform http://pdo.donbosconetwork.org/en/ is fully integrated with the main DBN website www.donbosconetwork.org . It is an online platform of information, documents and news concerning provincial Planning and Development Offices. Its main goal is to strengthen the capacity building of PDOs, facilitate information exchange, and give DON BOSCO organizations tools for better cooperation in the field of global development. This PDO section has a database of all PDOs worldwide. E-learning, and documents sections are ways of gaining knowledge, while “Forum” gives all registered users the opportunity to discuss most relevant topics.

The Volunteers’ data base provides information on volunteers sent by DON BOSCO organizations for long term international voluntary service.

Integrated with the website is an Own Cloud resource space, which allows for exchange of materials, photographs films, documents, reports and information among various organizations in a safe, password protected way.

Don Bosco Network believes that fast, a safe exchange of information among DON BOSCO organizations is very important for effective support to the Salesian Mission worldwide. For certain types of materials it is very important to use safely our own tools of communication rather than public resources like dropbox, gmail, facebook and others. The DBN website and PDO platform are administered by Don Bosco Network office and financed by contributions from DBN members. Don Bosco Network runs the website at the service of the Salesian Mission worldwide and is happy to share this resource with all Don Bosco organizations supporting developmental work especially in developing countries.
