Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo –  June 2023 -On 25 June, at the Bâtiment du 30 juin, the Laus Angelis choir at the Salama School of Informatics (ESIS in French) of the Salesians of Don Bosco Central Africa Province (AFC) produced an unprecedented performance in a concert organised to mark its 14th anniversary. The Laus Angelis choir managed to fill the famous Bâtiment du 30 juin hall, currently the provincial assembly headquarters for the province of Haut Katanga, but designed and built for performances and theatre, with more than 500 people. The choir, made up of young students, succeeded in taking its audience on a journey of emotions from melancholy to surprise and amazement, all in great sonorous harmony. Hymns of praise and adoration to the Lord, hymns to St John Bosco, typical traditional songs in various Congolese national languages, etc. were performed. The audience, mostly young students from other high schools, choirs from the parishes and oratories of Lubumbashi, and many other members of the Salesian Family, enjoyed a cultural evening led by the young students. The event is therefore set for next year, for a production that music lovers hope will be even more fascinating.

Recife, Brazil –  June 2023 - After months of preparation and much anticipation, the great moment has arrived for Salesian sport in the Brazil-Recife (BRE) Province. Last Monday, 26 June, the Nordestão Salesiano 2023 sports event opened at the Salesian Sagrado Coração College. Athletes and their families, sports professionals, students and former students have come together, until 30 June, for moments of pure emotion, exchange and energy. A total of 1,300 students from 16 Salesian schools are committed to unity through sport. The disciplines include dance, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, swimming, volleyball, beach volleyball, chess, basketball, five-a-side football and handball. The first day's programme began with the Eucharistic Celebration celebrated by Fr Francisco Inácio, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and concelebrated by Fr Eliano Queiroz, Rector of the school hosting the event. Afterwards, the opening ceremony of the Nordestão Salesiano 2023 took place at the Gynasium Dom Bosco, with a parade of participants, performances and the lighting of the Olympic flame.

Bologna, Italy – June 2023 – On 17 June in the Don Bosco parish in Bologna, six young Salesians were ordained priests by Cardinal Daniel Fernando Sturla Berhouet, SDB, Metropolitan Archbishop of Montevideo, Uruguay. Fr Giuliano Giacomazzi, Superior of the Lombardo-Emilian Salesian Province (ILE), was present.
