(ANS - Madrid) – Anyone who knows Don Bosco knows that the playground is a place of education where great men and great saints are formed. "The playground is the place where the character of the young person is revealed, where young people they can be studied and guided. Education through recreation is a specialty of the Salesian tradition." Last Friday, 10 March, Florentino Pérez, the President of Real Madrid, launched what will be the eighth "Corazón Classic Match". The winner is already known: it will be the social projects of the Real Madrid Foundation in Africa, including 10 Sports Schools and humanitarian aid projects of the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid. The motto of the initiative will be: "Battiti per l’Africa."

The match will be played on 11 June at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium of Madrid, between the Real squad and that of Rome.

"Misiones Salesianas" – the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid - and the Real Madrid Foundation have joined forces in projects for disadvantaged children and youth, because sport is a factor in social integration and the promotion of values such as solidarity, participation, team spirit, respect and inclusion.

Currently there are 17 socio-sports schools and a draft humanitarian aid project as a result of this collaboration. These provide a safe place for leisure, education, medical checks and food, and, above all, the formation of values through sport. They are distributed in 12 countries on 3 continents, benefiting over 2,000 children and young people.  Ten of these schools and the project of humanitarian aid take place in African countries.

"Football should be a great generator of solidarity,” said the president of Real Madrid, “and its strength should be conveyed in a commitment to the aid of the most vulnerable, because in Africa 350 million people live in extreme poverty, according to data of the World Bank".

Then, he added: "the victory in this match is called solidarity", and it concerns all those children and young people who have no resources.
