Philippines – Medical Mission a Service to Humanity

(ANS – Manila) – More than 500 patients were given free medical examination, medicines, pediatric, dental, reading glass, x-ray, pap smear and electrocardiogram at the Don Bosco TVET Center in cooperation with Rotary ChinaTown-Manila and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc on 23 October 2016 at the Mazzarello gymnasium in Don Bosco TVET Center-Tondo.

This was organized for one reason only - service to humanity. The theme for this mission is “Pangkalusugang Pagsusuri ng Pamilyang Busko.” ("The Bosconian Family Medical Check-Up")

Later, there were activities for kids such as book colouring, proper hand washing and brushing of teeth, and medicines were distributed to all beneficiaries.

The medical mission was supported by expert doctors, physicians, optometrists, dentists, nurses, radiologists from Justice Jose Abad Santos Mother and Child Hospital. Also, the nearby Barangay offered their support through providing tents. There were volunteer students from Jose Abad Santos High School and trainers and trainees of Don Bosco TVET Tondo as well.

The Salesian House of Don Bosco Tondo works directly with and for the poorest youth. Don Bosco Tondo parish has about a hundred thousand parishioners. The parish catechists also minister to two elementary schools and one high school with a total of about five thousand students; and the community runs the TVET Centre, Hostel, and Youth Centre.
